A Look at the Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Longhorns College Football Rivalry

All football games to me are not true ones unless both sides produce great competition as did these two teams when they met in Dallas which had been the regular tradition of the two teams since the nineteen hundreds when at this time Oklahoma was under United States jurisdiction but the Oklahoma campus was still under Oklahoma jurisdiction. However their were a few years in the middle of the nineteen hundreds where the game had been played in places like Norman Oklahoma and Austin Texas in the hearts of many people today the game is titled the Red River Rivalry which derives it’s name from the Red River which stretches across Texas and Oklahoma. True national significance of these two teams and their rivalry came in the year of 1945 and continues until this present day where by Oklahoma and Texas in those years both made it to the top 25 list in the year 03’ 04’ 05’ 08’ and 09’ at least one of these teams has made it to the bowl championship series and the National championship game.Oklahoma Texas ticketscontinues to be one of the toughtest tickets to land each college football season.

When the teams meet the tickets that are sold between the two schools are split at he fifty yard line of each side so that at all times half of the students are happy and the other half unhappy the game even features its own set of trophies and out of these trophies the most looked on is the Golden Hat. This happens to be a ten gallon hat that is made out of bronze and is held by the athletic department until the conclusion of the game another astonishing tradition is each schools military branch of Oklahoma run game balls from their schools campus to the others and when they arrive they participate in scrimmages and are awarded red river trophies but more important bragging rights.
