More and more articles on diabetes are appearing on the internet every day and not without good reason too.
In 2000, according to the World Health Organization, at least 171 million people worldwide were suffering from some form of diabetes, that’s a staggering 2.8% of the population.
Alarmingly that number is still increasing rapidly, and it is estimated that by the year 2030, more than 366 million people will be suffering from this deliberating disease.
Over the last 20 years, instances of diabetes in North America have been increasing substantially. In 2008 there were about 24 million people with diabetes in the US alone and from those 5.7 million people remain undiagnosed. Worryingly another 57 million people are estimated to have pre-diabetes.
With these statistics and concerns in mind, we are asking you to help raise awareness of diabetes by posting any of these articles on diabetes to your website, blog or newsletter.
In many cases, diabetes can be prevented; especially if people are readied with the right information. If prevention is too late then helping people with diabetes to acquire the knowledge and skills to manage their condition is central to them leading a full and healthy life.
