Forest star Nixon proves her
FOREST of Dean AC fielded two senior teams in Saturday’s cross country fixture at Pittville Park.
In the ladies 6K race Anne Nixon (V50) was first back for the team in 11th position in 24.57.
The in-form Lynne Park was next back in 52 nd in 29.22 and was also awarded the LV45 bronze medal for the County championships.
Vicky Morgan took a break from her London Marathon training to help the team and was placed 83rd in 32.24.
Jackie Green and Jenny Green were 87th and 88th respectively in 33.16 and 33.43, with the team placed 15th overall and eighth Vets team.
For the senior men, running the 10K race, Tony Marshall (V45) was first back in 32nd position is 35.01.
The men’s team finished 18th and were placed 12th in the Veterans section.
OTHER RESULTS, SENIOR MEN: 90 Steve Cunliffe 39.05, 108 Fred van Arkel 40.43, 128 Colin Baker 42.50, 156 Chris Hawkins 47.57, 159 John Dow 48.55.
Elsewhere, Nixon started the year well with a win at the McCain Cardiff Cross Challenge.
Competing in the 6.5K course at Blackweir Park, she was first lady in a time of 25.02.
Nixon followed this hermes handbags with an excellent performance at the Midlands Veterans race at Droitwich a week later, where she finished second overall. Park won silver in the V45 category in the same race.
